The Bush Film Festival committee is excited to announce that the signature item for 2010 Bush Film Festival is SMOKE!

What is BFF?

Bush Film Festival is an opportunity for regional creative types to TELL US A STORY by making a short film or digital photo, and have it shown on the Big Screens Australia Fourty Square Meter Big Screen in downtown Mildura on the evening of Sunday 7th March 2010. Entry deadline for all categories is Friday 26th February 2010.

Bush Film Festival features the now traditional Short Film and Photography categories, but new for 2010 is the Youth Mobile Movie (YMM) category! (See below for details). And we’ve made a few changes so it’s easier for you to TELL US A STORY! Full details are available on http://www.bushfilmfest.com.au/ but here’s a quick rundown:

Short Film

Entrants have 7 minutes to TELL US A STORY, including the 2010 signature item “SMOKE” in any way that they choose. The more creative the better! Finalists will be shown on the big night, as well as being immortalised on the Bush Film Festival’s YouTube Channel. Awards include Best Film, Best Director, Best Acting, Best Soundtrack, Best Comedy, Youth Encouragement, Audience Choice and now BEST MADE ON A MOBILE for the best film which has been shot on a mobile phone. Photography

Entrants TELL US A STORY by submitting 2 photographs – one describing “Life in the Bush” and the other including the 2010 signature item “SMOKE” in any way that they choose. The more creative the better! Finalists will be shown during the Festival on 7th March, as well as a static printed display of selected finalists on the night so the audience can appreciate the photo’s in their own time. The photo-montage of finalists photo’s will also be immortalised on the Bush Film Festival’s YouTube Channel. Awards include Best Photo, Audience Choice, Best use of Signature Item, Youth Encouragement, Entry is open to all age groups. More info available on http://www.bushfilmfest.com.au/

Youth Mobile Movie (YMM)

Entrants under 17 get to TELL US A STORY but submitting a movie less than 3 mintues long using only a mobile phone’s video camera for recording the video and audio. Entrants upload their YMM’s to YouTube, which will then be added to the BFF’s channel and available for viewing and voting immediately. A combination of the highest YouTube voted video’s and a judges selection will make the finalists to be played on 7th March on the Big Screen. And if having your Youth Mobile Movie shown on the 40m2 BSA Big Screen isn’t enough, awards will be given out including Best Film, Best Acting, Best Looking Film, Best Comedy.

There’s a few extra guidelines to make the storytelling more accessible and ensure a level playing field for everyone! More info is available on http://www.bushfilmfest.com.au/

2010 Also heralds a few changes for the Bush Film Festival:

  • Best Made on Mobile” award in the main Short Film competition
