Welcome to the 2009 Bush Film Festival

Mildura City Heart

After the huge success of the 2008 Bush Film Festival, the organisers are keen to encourage prospective contenders for the 2009 Bush Film Festival (held in Feb 2009) by releasing the signature item now. Steve Timmis of the Bush Film Festival said today “we have lots of ideas for the 2009 festival with the early release of the needs to be incorporated into a short film or photograph, “this should be a bit more challenging, especially for the photographic section” Mr Timmis said “and we are really looking forward to seeing the entries which we will be accepting from 1st July 2008”.

The Bush Film festival will again be staged in the city heart and is hoped to be simulcast to at least 2 other regional centres as well as being streamed out live on the internet for those in remote areas who can’t make it.
Another initiative will be to conduct a number of weekend workshops over the winter months to help and encourage budding film makers to help get their creation to air.  For those who don’t have all of the necessary equipment at their disposal - cameras, editing and production equipment will be available at a modest rental.

About the Bush Film Festival

Bush Film Festival not just about ‘showing’ films and digital photos—it’s about ‘making’ them, and their ability to inspire, inform and enlighten.

BFF unique entry guidelines are designed to encourage short film production and challenge digital photographers to develop their craft to the highest possible level. Australian talent, in particular for those who are geographically challenged, are encouraged to submit their work for presentation and showing at the Bush Film Festival 2009.

The Bush Bilm Festival comprises of three sections.

  1. Film - A short film entry with the signature item present.
  2. Photography - two entries one with the signature item, the other always with the theme "bush".
  3. Tv Presentation - Entrants will have a screen test reading the news. The winner will Co-Host the festival and also a news item for WIN TV on the Bush Film Festival

The call for entries goes out to the general public – anyone can enter the festival regardless of their age, background or level of filmmaking experience. The only stipulation is that your entry meets our festival guidelines.

The 3 to 5 year plan is to simulcast the event on the Internet & WIN TV in regional areas thus facilitating the exposure of talented geographically challenged Australians into areas that they would normally consider to be outside their boundaries.

It's an exciting event for all creatives and regional Australians, and we want you to be a part of it... just think of the possumabilities.
